I learned of the I am Jane play as I was searching for answers on the blacks and Mormanism.
I grew up in Utah, where as you can imagine there was not very much of a mixed congragation.
The "black" thing was never an issue becuase they were never around. Then I went to Weber state, brought a friend home to dinner, and was promptly told never to do that again.
I am in Love with a fantastic black man, who is spiritual and whom I would eventually like to marry. He was told about the church and because of the "Black thing" he chose not to pursue.

I am so glad I have found your website. I remember sitting on my kitchen floor, watching T.V, mom doing dishes when the announcement came over about all worthy members and the priesthood

What a wonderful day.
I have never seen color, and never will
G_D bless everyone here and prayers on angels wings to the Mercy Seat and G-D's ear.

I served mission in Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia. I was from Idaho and had two wonderful black men that was a part of my life as a boy. I love them and called them uncle A. C. and uncle charles. My parents did not teach me that there was any difference in people so I grew up not understanding racism. Working on a farm in Oakley, We worked with navajo, mexicans, blacks, and anyone else in the are that needed a job. On my mission (1966 to 1968) I had a hard time not being able to spend time teaching my black brothers and sisters. After my mission I found a book by Allen Jerold Cherry. "It's You and Me Lord" After reading that book I felt better knowing that everyone has their own struggles. I am so grateful for a Father in Heaven that sees us all the same. I love you web sight and so grateful for you doing this. Thank you Bill

Hi Sheryl....I just watched your "I'm a Mormon Video" Wow...thanks for the cry...I needed that. I can't begin to imagine your world, but I do know that it has brought you to a place that will take you home to all that Father has to give to you...Christ's biggest lesson and one that must be learned in this life or the next is to love unconditionally...in this you are way ahead of most of us. The man that earns your heart and is allowed the opportunity to be sealed to you in the House of the Lord for time and all eternity will be one very blessed guy. Remember, guys can be slow learners, so have patience with hem but do not compromise on one thing... his testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints....even if you have to convert him first....just find one you can work with, and love him. Wow...you are over powering...If Mitt Romney makes it to the White House...please send him your resume...our country needs people like you! I would love to hear how your life unfolds, please drop me a line from time to time...and if you ever need any help..erictowner@gmail.com

I've only got a few chapter left to read in Last Laborer. I've been so inpsired by Mr. Hamilton's testimony, faithfulness, doctrinal research and commentary. I was one of those who welcomed the priesthood restrictions being lifted on the blacks but struggled with how a loving Father in Heaven would restrict the preisthood going to every worthy male in fhe first place. Mr. Hamilton's research and thoughts have helped to settle this question in my heart. The same principles also apply to polygamy, which I've felt the same way about (i.e. glad it was lifted, struggled on why it was insitituted). He links the idea that the principles that apply to blacks in the LDS church, really apply to all of God's commands that we don't understand. Thank you for a thoughtful, insightful, book that teaches about peace and how to accept God's will.

I have seen your I am a Mormon video and wanted to tell you that I was impressed. I was struck by how hard you try to be a good person and to do the right thing and to help others around you. I hope that as I raise my two girls (and my two boys) that their faith can influence them in the same positive way. Thanks for being a great role model. I hope the fame isn't too annoying!
