A Religious Portrait of African-Americans by The Pew Forum

The Pew Forum has published an extension report on the religious beliefs, practices, and affiliations of African-Americans.

While the U.S. is generally considered a highly religious nation, African-Americans are markedly more religious on a variety of measures than the U.S. population as a whole, including level of affiliation with a religion, attendance at religious services, frequency of prayer and religion’s importance in life.

Baptisms Result From Understanding Scriptures on Black Issues

7/21/2008 – Missionaries in some parts of the world are carrying the Blacks in the Scriptures DVD set with them. They’re reporting that they get these questions daily. With the DVDs are able to present the scriptures in a consistent manner. Two more reported this morning from Kenya, Africa. Although Africans are joining the Church in large numbers, the “curse doctrine” still plagues many who choose to remain in the Church. Blacks in the Scriptures is making a significant difference in Kenya, Ghana and South Africa.

Priesthood Commemoration Fireside to be Rebroadcast

The fireside held June 8th to commemorate the priesthood being given to all worthy men will be rebroadcast on BYU Television on the following dates and times:

  • Wednesday, June 11, at 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 12, at 10 p.m.
  • Friday, June 13, at noon
  • Sunday, June 15, at 11 a.m.

It will also be rebroadcast on KBYU-TV on Sunday, June 15, at 1 p.m.
