On March 14, 2004, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Southern California Public Affairs Council will have the pleasure of hosting the Presidency of the Genesis Group. The Genesis Group is an official organization of the Church which was established in 1971 to meet the unique needs of its African-American members. The Presidency consists of Don Harwell, President, and his Counselors Orin Howell, Eddie Gist, and Randy Cutliff, all of whom were called in 2003.

Historically, the Genesis Group was created for the support and edification of individuals interested in the Church as well as those who were already members. Genesis Group membership is not limited to Blacks in the church, but anyone who has an interest in building spiritual strength, fellowshipping, building bridges of understanding with people of African descent, as well as to understand the important role that diversity plays in edifying all men and women within and seeking the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
